Anne McSweeney, LMSW
Anne McSweeney, LMSW and President of CEU Concepts, has a diverse background in community relations and medical social work. Drawing from her varied background and real-life social work experiences, Anne and her team provide up-to-date, interesting, informative, relevant, and fresh educational seminars that allow the participants to enjoy themselves while gaining useful skills for their daily practices.
During her 22 year career, Anne has been planning CEU events for healthcare professionals for over 10 years. Through these interactions, Anne has developed very strong relationships among her peers (including social workers, nurses, case managers and other healthcare professionals) and has found a niche in providing educational events for them. She strives to maintain the positive reputation she earned with her colleagues by presenting the highest quality educational events as she understands the information/educational topics they need to be successful. And since Anne has attended hundreds of continuing education events over the course of her social work career, she maintains a unique social work perspective for planning CEU events. Her CEU presentations have been so widely received – they have been featured at many local and national professional conferences including – ACMA National; ACMA GA Annual Conference, CMSA Annual Conference, GA Hospice & Palliative Care Annual Conference and NASW GA Annual Conference.
In Anne’s earlier social work career, she worked as a licensed medical social worker for Home Health Care/Hospice and then Renal Dialysis, where her day-to-day responsibilities included: home visits, psychosocial assessments, and patient advocacy. Managing a case load of as many as 125 patients, Anne worked in conjunction with other social service agencies and provided ongoing support and counseling. With both organizations, she served as an active member of the interdisciplinary team which consisted of physicians, nurses, therapists, and other social workers.
She is a graduate of Auburn University, where she received her bachelor’s degree in psychology and received her master’s degree in social work from the University of Alabama. She resides in Alpharetta with her husband, Steve and 2 daughters.
Mica Whitfield, LMSW
Mica joined CEU Concepts in 2016 as the full-time Educational Coordinator. Mica is a Licensed Master Social Worker with nearly 10 years of experience in the social work field. Mica began her professional social work career as a Prevention Specialist with the largest AIDS Service Organization in the Southeast. During that time, she facilitated CDC evidence-based interventions to communities around the Metro-Atlanta area, held large testing events and community health fairs, and linked newly diagnosed patients to medical care and other support resources. Mica has also worked as a social worker for an Intensive Family Intervention program providing in-home behavior health assessments, individual counseling, and skill building for adolescents.
Mica earned her Master’s in Social Work from Clark Atlanta University and her bachelor’s degree in Social Work from the University of North Carolina in Greensboro, NC.
She currently resides in Lawrenceville with her husband and 3 children.
Meredith Lee, LMSW
Meredith is a Licensed Master Social Worker who has 8 years of experience working with dialysis patients in an outpatient setting. As a dialysis social worker, she provided psychosocial services to patients, coordinated the admission, transfer, and transient patients, and assisted patients with insurance, transportation, travel and other services. Meredith has also worked as a social worker for adolescents in a special education school and a behavioral hospital.
Meredith earned her Master’s in Social Work from Widener University in Chester, PA and her bachelor’s degree in political science and sociology from Villanova University in Villanova, PA.
Meredith grew up in Rhode Island and remains a New England sports fan. She currently resides in Dunwoody with her husband and 2 young children.
Client Relations Coordinator
Marty has been working with CEU Concepts since 2014. With her organizational skills and attention to detail – she is an integral part of our team – helping with many different duties from detailed paperwork to client follow up. She comes to CEU Concepts from the educational/teaching arena where she spent 14 years teaching Pre-K, 4th, 5th, 7th and 8th grades in Texas, Michigan, and Georgia.
Marty resides in Cumming – where she is a wife and mom to 2 daughters. In her spare time, she enjoys making customized t-shirts, listening to heavy metal music, and spending time with her family.
Jessica Hansen, LMSW
Jessica joined the CEU Concepts team in 2015 as an Educational Consultant. In this role, she will be working on CEU topic development, research and collaborating with speakers, clients and other team members. Jessica is a Licensed Master Social Worker who has over 5 years’ experience working in hospice. As a hospice social worker, Jessica has helped prepare and support patients and their families during the patients’ end of life journey.
Jessica earned her Master’s in Social Work from Syracuse University and her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Manhattan College in Riverdale, NY.
Jessica grew up in Upstate NY and currently resides in Sandy Springs, GA.
Melissa joined the CEU Concepts team in February of this year. Her main role is helping with the administrative paperwork. Melissa is a Registered Radiologic Technologist and currently works in the Mammography Department at Northside Hospital. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter.
Jessica Davis, BSW
Educational Consultant and Event Planner
Jessica recently joined the CEU team in January 2015 as an Educational Consultant /Event Planner. She has nine years of experience in youth development ranging from medical to at-risk youth in Nashville, TN. She worked in supportive services at Vanderbilt University for post-surgical patients. She also advocated for adults and children with mental health diagnoses in the medical, community, and school settings. In addition, Jessica served as a Program Coordinator for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arkansas aiding in volunteer recruitment and youth development. She continues to pursue her passion of youth development by working as an after school counselor for the Ed Isakson YMCA in Alpharetta, GA.
Jessica graduated from Middle Tennessee University with a bachelor’s degree in Social Work and minor in Mental Health Services. She has enjoyed the southern hospitality of Georgia since March 2013 and resides in Roswell, GA with her husband and daughter.
Amanda Sawyer, MSW Intern/Social Media Relations
Amanda Sawyer is a MSW student at the University of Georgia and is expected to graduate in May 2016. Amanda’s background includes over 5 years of community outreach and working with at-risk youth. She has a passion for technology and hopes to be able to integrate technology into social work.
Amanda earned her bachelor’s in general studies with concentrations in psychology, rehabilitation studies, and family studies from the University of North Texas.
Amanda is a Texas transplant and currently resides in Cumming, Georgia with her husband and their fur-baby, Flapjack.
